Passport and visa
A Finnish citizen needs a visa for India. For the visa you need a passport, one photo and the visa form. A visa is granted for six months.
There are no compulsory vaccinations for India, but it is advisable to check the status of your polio and tetanus vaccinations. Health care centers provide more information.
The currency of India is the rupee, which divides into 100 paisas. One Euro equals c. 58 rupees. Euros can be exchanged into rupees in India. A Euro traveller's cheque is a safe choice - they can only be used or exchanged with proof of identity - and also valid in Finland.
Visa, American Express, Diners and Master Card are accepted at hotels and many shops.
Indian time is three and a half hours ahead of Finnish time - two and a half hours during Daylight Saving Time.

India, the 7th largest nation in the world, is 3 500 kms long in the north-south direction. The vast country includes landscapes from the jungles of the Equator to Himalaya in the north. There are over one billion inhabitants. India is ten times larger than Finland. The main languages are Hindi and English - the traveller will do well in English. In addition to them India has 17 official languages - it is estimated that there are over 1 000 spoken languages!
